Life’s vexing issue answered. Get the answer, here, now! It so simple I could kick myself for letting it to elude me for so long. How many times have you said or heard someone else say, all I want is to be happy?
I can’t claim to have come up with this formula. The answer came to me via email from my favorite philologist Dr. Jim Samuels (He inspired the character Dr. J. in Done Growed Up*) the other day with one of his fabulous formulas, G+P=H. All you have to do is make a goal add progress toward the goal and what do you have? Happiness! I is so simple! I wish I had thought of it.
Is it too simple to possibly be true, I wondered? I tested it on lots of my goals. Every time I applied a little progress to my goal I was happy. Hubs even tried it and reported that it was true each time he progressed toward a goal he felt happiness.
Do I hear, “yeah buts” grumbling around the world? If you are from the too simple school, let me remind you happiness is like a muscle, you have to train it. Nobody goes to the gym once and expects to fitness for life, do they?
The trick is you have to keep checking. First thing you do make a goal, after that add some progress toward your goal, finally, check your happiness quotient. Happy, right? Then keep it up. Before you know it, longing for happiness will be a thing of the past.
